In-line "pre" preamplifier designed specifically for the Shure SM7B. A special transformer design combined with wideband, low-noise electronics provides over 20dB of actual, real-world gain. That's enough to make your 7B a willing participant in even the most challenging application
Why Choose Mogaine?
Mogaine has a trasformer on the input, compared to some major competitors which are all-solid-state. This is important because a transformer generates noiseless gain where the signal is smallest. The Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) value for Mogaine is 10 dB less than the major competitor!
In addition to a quieter design, the output impedance of the Mogaine is less than 140 ohms. Some competitors have an output impedance of about 11,000 ohms. That's a big deal because microphone input channels typically have input impedances around 1500 ohms. If you do the math, you'll see that competitors are about 7 times HIGHER, while the Mogaine is about 10 times LOWER. In practice, this means Mogaine often delivers about 6 to 9 dB more gain than other options, depending on the mic channel.
What is special about the 7UP?
The 7UP is tuned specifically to work with the design characteristics of the SM7B microphone. An SM7B microphone has a lot of power driving its low impedance output. The 7UP preamp has an input impedance of only about 500 ohms (just 17% of the Mogaine's 3000 ohms). If you need a preamp to work exclusively with your SM7B, choose the 7UP.
