Takamine’s stylish P5DC dreadnought cutaway combines tradition with contemporary refinements, including a resonant solid spruce top with “X” top bracing for superior clarity and projection, and solid rosewood back with rosewood sides for a rich, warm sound.
Built with the performer in mind, the P5DC features Takamine’s proprietary CTP-3 Cool Tube™ preamp system paired with the unique Palathetic™ under-saddle pickup for a peerless amplified response. The dual-channel CTP-3 provides low-voltage tube tone, variable from bright and brilliant to thick and warm, three-band EQ with semi-parametric midrange, auxiliary input, and volume (for use when a second pickup is added), and an onboard chromatic tuner.
Other performance-enhancing features include a convenient Venetian cutaway for easy access to the upper reaches of the fingerboard and Takamine’s asymmetrical neck profile – which is slightly thinner on the bass side so that it fits the natural shape of your hand, resulting in a comfortable feel and improved playability. The split bone saddle provides more accurate intonation, while the bridge pin positioning optimizes the break angle to improve sustain and presence.
Premium design appointments include elegant ivory body binding with dark wood purfling, an abalone rosette, a rosewood fingerboard with abalone “dot-in-dot” inlays, a rosewood headcap, gold tuners with gold buttons, a natural bone nut and gloss natural finish. The P5DC comes complete with a premium archtop hardshell case.

At Easy Music Center, we care for our instruments from the moment they arrive to when they ship to your door. All instruments are stored in a climate controlled environment and put through a 12-point inspection checklist before being shipped.
First, we check the finish of the instrument, carefully inspecting any blemishes on the surface. Next, we check the playability and setup by inspecting and adjusting the truss rod (if available), bridge, nut, and frets. If the instrument has electronics, we test all of the electronic components to make sure they are functioning properly. All instruments are set-up to factory specifications. Any requests made outside of those specifications can incur part and labor charges.
After a thorough inspection, we then move on to maintenance. We start by lubricating any moving parts on the instrument, such as tuning machines. We then move on to cleaning and oiling the fretboard along with the frets.
Once maintenance is done, we stretch and tune the strings and play test the instrument. After this, we do a final inspection and clean/detail the instrument before packing it up for shipment.
We’re excited to be a part of your instrument buying experience.
