Round Base Mic Stands

Why would you consider a round base mic stand?  In a studio setting, the benefits are clear.  The amount of ground area a round base stand takes up is smaller than a tripod stand; you can save some room.  In addition to that, if you are going to put a heavy condenser microphone on a mic stand, a round base is ideal as the weight is centered over the middle more, making the stand less likely to topple over.  If you are thinking of doing a heavy microphone along with a pop filter and a reflection shield, then a round base stand is even more critical.  Most tripods can't support that level of weight and you run the risk of damaging your setup.
